Christmas is coming! This time of year is generally labelled as the season of ‘joy and happiness’, but it can also be a very busy and stressful time. We all need a little break and indulgence sometimes, so this recipe is great for Christmas but also great for those stressful times in the lead up to Christmas. Make a batch, put your feet up and relax for a moment.
I like to warm the glasses before serving; to do this, fill heatproof glasses with hot water and stand for several minutes. Discard the water. Use glasses immediately.
Bring milk to the boil in medium saucepan. Remove from heat.
Meanwhile, whisk egg yolks and sugar in medium bowl until combined. Gradually whisk in hot milk. Return eggnog mixture to pan; stir over low heat, without boiling, until mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Remove from heat.
Add chocolate, brandy and rum. Stir until smooth and combined. Pour eggnog into warmed heatproof serving glasses. Top with cream. Serve sprinkled with nutmeg.
TIP: This version is quite boozy, you can omit the rum if desired.
