Cheesy garlic bread

This bread is moreish! The combination of garlic and cheese is delicious. Im sure most people have had cheesy garlic bread before, but making your own and eating it fresh from the oven can’t be beat.

The bread is light and fluffy and full of flavour – hope you enjoy it.

  1. Combine flour, seasoning, sugar and yeast in a large bowl. Make a well in the flour mixture. Add water and stir to combine. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Rub oil over the base and side of a large bowl. Transfer dough to bowl. Cover with a clean tea towel and stand in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Grease and line a 26cm x 32cm swiss roll pan with baking paper. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll into a 28cm x 24cm rectangle (it wont - or doesn't have to be a perfect rectangle). Stand in a warm place for 30-40 minutes or until almost doubled in size.
  3. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 220C/200C fan-forced. Combine butter, garlic and oregano in a small bowl. Spread dough with butter mixture, then sprinkle with cheese and half the parsley. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden. Sprinkle with remaining parsley. Stand for 2 minutes before slicing into sticks or pieces. Serve warm or cold.

Best eaten on day of making.
Serve with warm tomato Napolitana sauce or fresh tomato salsa if desired.
